Overview

Theatrical and comedy improvisation – “improv” for short – is an art form where performers create scenes on the spot, without written dialogue or a predetermined plan. The goal is to explore one’s creativity and thereby create compelling short scenes in a team.Through applied improv techniques, one can train skills essential to science communication such as presentation skills, teamwork, and thinking on one’s feet.

Goals

1. To introduce the main concepts of improvisation.
2. To train helpful skills for science communication.
3. To get to know your colleagues in a fun and safe environment.
4. To integrate into an already established improv drop in program by the Catalyst.


Specifications

– No prior improv experience is required.
– Place: CIG, room 5022- Date: Thursday 30 March, 2023.- Time: 18:00 – 19:30.
– FREE but registration mandatory 

Who we are

The Catalyst is a science-entertainment collective made up of enthusiastic researchers and other professionals that use entertainment as a means of engaging with the public around scientific content. We use skills grounded in improv, theater, and film to create a variety ofmedia including improv shows (CatCave9, a monthly science-improv show running since 2016), theatrical plays, immersive games, and more.
