Specificity and evolution in protein interactions

David Gfeller studied Physics at the University of Lausanne and obtained his Master in 2003. He then moved to EPFL for a PhD in Theoretical Physics under the supervision of Prof. Paolo De Los Rios.

After obtaining his PhD, he switched field and started working in Computational Biology at University of Toronto with Prof. Gary Bader. There he developed computational models of protein interaction predictions based on integration of large experimental datasets, with a special focus on peptide recognition domains such as PDZ or SH3.

Since 2010 he is a member of the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics, working in the group of Olivier Michielin and Vincent Zoete. During his talk he will discuss recent work on deciphering specificity in protein interactions and how it impacts our understanding of protein interaction network evolution.
