Fri Apr 17, 2012: SIB Bioinformatics Workshop: “Advanced Mass-Spectrometry based Proteomics: quantification and post-translational modifications”

Dear All,

We are pleased to announce a new SIB Bioinformatics Workshop 2012 entitled:
"Advanced Mass-Spectrometry based Proteomics: quantification and post-translational modifications"
http://edu.isb-sib.ch/course/view.php?id=116

The goal of the workshop, to be held on Friday 27th April 2012, is to give theoretical and practical knowledge on the mass spectrometry (MS) techniques used in proteomics for the characterization of post-translational modifications (PTMs) and the quantitation of protein in complex mixtures.

The course will cover the following main subjects:

- Strategies for PTM identification in proteins by MS: theory & concepts
- PTM data analysis practical examples and exercises: phosphorylation
- Quantitation of proteins by MS: labeled and unlabeled strategies
- Quantitative workflows and examples of applications.

It is assumed that participants will have some knowledge of modern MS-based proteomics techniques.
This course is conceived as the follow-up to the course "Introduction to Mass Spectrometry-based Proteomics" that was organized in 2010 and 2011 in Lausanne.

Registration is now open.

For the organizers,
Vassilios Ioannidis
