Welcome to Anastasiya!

I am Anastasiya Strembitska and I have joined the laboratory of Prof. Thorens in November.

I have obtained my BSc in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Lisbon, IST, Portugal. After that I moved to Glasgow, UK, to pursue a MSc Degree in Translational Medicine and, later, PhD in Cardiovascular Sciences in Dr. Salt’s laboratory at the Glasgow University. During my PhD I studied the effect on hyperinsulinaemia and hyperglycaemia on insulin-stimulated nitric oxide production and mitochondrial phenotype in human macrovascular endothelial cells.

My research in Prof. Thorens’ group will focus on the role of mitochondria in glucose sensing in neurons and regulation of glucagon secretion.
