Konstantinos Kompotis is a biologist from Thessaloniki, Greece. He finished his Master studies in Biomedical Sciences at Maastricht University, Netherlands. During his Master’s internships he studied some of the epigenetic alternations in Alzheimer’s disease, with a focus on DNA methylation and microRNAs.

Since his first acquaintance with the field of Neuroscience, he has been interested in the intricate network that underlies neurological function and particularly in dissecting the molecular crosstalk between various systems, including circadian rhythmicity, sleep, metabolism and glial communication, which drives the brain’s homeostatic mechanisms.

On the 6th of January he joined Professor Franken’s group to investigate the potential effect of rhythmic stimulation of thalamocortical neurons on sleep and cognition in mice.
