Mieke de Wit joined the group of Christian Fankhauser as a post-doc in May 2012.

She obtained her PhD in the Plant Ecophysiology group of Prof. Rens Voesenek at Utrecht University, the Netherlands, where she worked on plant neighbor detection and plant immunity during competition for light.

In the Fankhauser group, she will focus on the mechanisms underlying the opposing shade avoidance responses in different parts of a plant leaf.
