Prashant joined Christian Fankhauser’s group as a postdoc on 1st October. He will work on understanding the mechanics of plant growth during phototropism by collaborating with Fankhauser lab and the group of Sven Bergmann from the Department of Medical Genetics.

Prashant has a degree in Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology after which he obtained a PhD in Applied Mathematics from the University of Glasgow in 2012. His recent research, as a postdoc at the Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, was on studying electro-magneto-mechanical interactions in soft polymers. At Erlangen, he has also worked on the biomechanics of physical deformation in blood vessels.
