SystemsX.ch Fourth Call for Proposals

SystemsX.ch, the Swiss Initiative in Systems Biology, is issuing its Forth Call for Proposals.

The focus of the present Call is on :

  1. Interdisciplinary Pilot Projects (IPPs): innovative projects with a high risk to scientifically fail and / or seed projects. Up to ten Interdisciplinary Pilot Projects (IPP) will be funded.
  2. Interactions between Academia and Industry: Bridge 2 Industry (BIP) and Industrial Sabbaticals in Academia (ISA) projects.

Deadlines:

IPP:

Deadline for submission of proposals for IPP projects is January 15, 2011.

BIP and ISA:

Unlike the IPP projects, submission deadlines for BIP and ISA are more frequent to allow more flexibility in preparing a proposal together with industrial partners. Deadlines for BIP and ISA proposals are as follows (of each year):

  • February 1
  • May
  • August 1
  • November 1

The next deadline for BIP and ISA proposal is November 1, 2010.

SNSF Interdisciplinary projects

General conditions

An application is considered as interdisciplinary if the following three requirements are cumulatively complied:

  • The research topic includes two or more scientific disciplines.
  • The research requires the reciprocal interaction between two or more disciplines.
  • Within the scientific approach, the reference to common theoretical concepts and methods as well as to their common evolution is needed for all involved disciplines.

The research plan and the CVS must be written in English. Exceptions can be accorded prior to submission upon request to the administrative office of the SNSF (see contacts).

Appel d’offre pour des projets de recherche interdisciplinaire FBM

La Faculté de biologie et de médecine présente une extraordinaire variété de compétences et de domaines de recherche. La Commission de la Recherche de la Faculté de biologie et de médecine s’est donné comme un de ses objectifs de favoriser les nouvelles collaborations entre les chercheurs de notre Faculté.

La Commission se propose de financer pour l’année 2010 des projets de recherche interdisciplinaire proposés par les membres du corps enseignant.

Les nouvelles collaborations de nature interdisciplinaire qui ne pourraient être financées par les sources de financement habituelles et qui ne pourraient être conduites par une seule équipe seront considérées en priorité. En l’occurrence, le terme interdisciplinaire doit être entendu dans un sens large et n’implique pas forcément la collaboration de disciplines éloignées. La soumission de projets par de jeunes responsables de recherche est encouragée.

Le montant du subside est d’au maximum CHF 200’000.- pour une période de deux ans non renouvelable. Le subside peut être utilisé pour l’engagement de personnes ou pour du matériel.

Le délai pour la soumission des projets est fixé au 1er avril 2010.

SystemsX.ch Third Call for Proposals

SystemsX.ch, the Swiss Initiative in Systems Biology, is issuing its Third Call for Proposals.

The focus of the third Call is on

1. Interdisciplinary PhD student projects(IPhDs): IPhD students are supervised by two mentors from different and complementarydisciplines. SystemsX.ch will fund about a dozen IPhD Projects over 3 years.

2. Interdisciplinary Pilot Projects (IPPs): innovative projects with a high risk to scientifically fail and / or seed projects. Up to ten Interdisciplinary Pilot Projects (IPP) will be funded.

3. Interactions between Academia and Industry: Bridge 2 Industry (BIP) and Industrial Sabbaticals in Academia (ISA) projects (see also X-Flash of Sept 21, 2009). Continue reading →
