This is the second of these awards for Franken’s group after Ralf Wimmer in 2012, who was co-supervised by Anita Luthi.

Doc.Mobility 

Les bourses de mobilité pour doctorant-e-s représentent un instrument d’encouragement du Fonds national suisse (FNS) permettant d’effectuer une partie du doctorat à l’étranger.

Les bourses Doc.Mobility sont octroyées pour une durée de 6 à 18 mois au maximum.

Conditions de participation (voir le règlement)

Dossiers de requête
Le dossier de requête complet doit être remis par voie électronique via la plate-forme Web mySNF. Les directives pour soumettre une requête sont disponibles sous “Formulaires, règlements et directives”.

Les demandes de bourses Doc.Mobility doivent être soumises:
a) à la Commission de recherche du FNS de la haute école suisse où les requérant-e-s sont inscrit-e-s comme doctorant-e-s ;

b) à la Commission des bourses du FNS si le doctorat est effectué dans une université étrangère.

Avant le dépôt de sa candidature, il est demandé à chaque requérant-e de contacter la Commission de recherche compétente resp. la Commission des bourses et de prendre connaissance des informations complémentaires fournies par celle-ci.

Mise au concours: 3 mois avant le délai de soumission
Délais de soumission: 1er mars et 1er septembre
Début des bourses allouées:
a) Commissions de recherche: environ 2 à 4 mois au plus tôt après le délai de soumission 
b) Commission des bourses: au plus tôt 4 mois après le délai de soumission

SIB Fellowship program – Call for applications

The SIB Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics, thanks to the generous support and trust of its partners*, is offering the opportunity to a selection of the best students worldwide to carry out their PhD research in one of its groups, all of which are located across Switzerland. The laureates will receive a financial grant for 3 years (extendible for 1 year) and:

 

– Become a member of SIB, the leading network of Swiss bioinformatics

– Have access to professional training courses

– Be part of the Swiss PhD Training Network in bioinformatics

– Be introduced to industrial partners during specific events

– Participate in SIB events such as the yearly SIB Days (scientific conference)

– Attend the Summer School and Students’ Retreat

– When in collaboration with industry, have direct hands-on experience within that company

 

SIB provides core databases, software and support for the worldwide life science research community. It leads and coordinates the field of bioinformatics in Switzerland by federating bioinformatics research groups from Swiss schools of higher education and research institutes. Currently, SIB consists in 38 research and service groups located in the country’s seven main cities. SIB creates, maintains and distributes world-renowned bioinformatics resources, mainly free of charge, to the national and international life science research community. A few examples include UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot, STRING, SWISS-MODEL, SwissDock and neXtProt.

Ernst Schering Foundation-PhD fellowships

The Ernst Schering Foundation wants to support outstanding young scientists who conduct basic research in the fields of biology, medicine or chemistry. It awards a total of approximately 7 fellowships per year to exceptional doctoral students who want to carry out research projects at renowned institutes worldwide. The fellowships are awarded for a two-year period.

Application deadlines are April 30 and October 31 of the current year
