ENABLE Meeting 2019, Nijmegen (NE) – Deadline: June 30, 2019

Enable Meeting 2019

Dear fellow Postdocs and PhD students of the University Lausanne,

I would like to draw your attention to a new meeting, specifically organized by and intended for PhD students and Postdocs, called ENABLE. Importantly, we have numerous Travel grants available, which cover the registration fee and a travel/accommodation reimbursement of up to 250€. In addition, in collaboration with FEBS and IUBMB, we also offer a limited number of FEBS-IUBMB Travel Grants to successful and eligible applicants, that offers even higher coverage. Considering the scientific excellence of the Uni Lausanne, I am sure that numerous applicants from the UniL would get elected for a Travel Grant😉. However, the deadline for Travel Grants applications/Early Bird registration is the 30th of June, so hurry up😊

ENABLE (European Academy for BiomedicaScience) is an initiative embedded in and funded by the European Union Horizon 2020 program and aims to connect aspiring young researchers to world-leading scientists who are willing to share their latest scientific results, professional experience and career advice. Importantly, the ENABLE symposia are organized by and for PhD students and postdoctoral researchers. ENABLE 2019, entitled “Next-generation life scientists: Side by side to break new ground”, is our 3rd edition and will take place on 13-15 November 2019 at the Van der Valk hotel in Nijmegen, The Netherlands

ENABLE is more than just a regular conference and it consists of three main sections: a career day, the scientific symposium and outreach activities. During the Career Day, participants will have the chance to: engage in insightful discussions with experts from different career paths in the career chats section, participate in workshops aimed at helping the personal and professional development of the next-generation of scientists, and attend a job fair that will host potential employment options from the biotech, pharma, and communication sectors.

Regarding the main Scientific Symposium, the central theme of ENABLE 2019 will be the importance of multi-disciplinarity and collaboration across different fields of biomedical science that comprise personalized medicine, advanced imaging, fundamental research and big data science. Our line-up of confirmed keynote speakers includes top scientists, such as:  Prof. Hans Clevers (Hubrecht Institute Utrecht, Netherlands), Prof. Francesca Ciccarelli (Francis Crick Institute London, UK), Prof. Jan Huisken (Morgridge Institute for Research Madison, US), Prof. Alison Noble (University of Oxford, UK), Dr. Ayal Hendel (Bar-Ilan University Ramat Gan, Israel), Dr. Antoine Coulon (Institut Curie Paris, France), and Prof. Emma Lundberg (KTH Royal Institute of Technology Stockholm, Sweden). During the Scientific Symposium, participants will have opportunities for scientific exchange and outreach experience through short talks, poster presentations, and pub talks. Furthermore, we will host a Plenary Debate to discuss the Future of Science and we will conclude the ENABLE with a Round Table debate about academia versus industry, which will be chaired by Dr. Helen Lee (University of Cambridge, UK). Please do not hesitate to contact me or ENABLE (info@enablenetwork.eu) in case you have questions, registration issues or other requests.

Best wishes
