#HappyThursday team presents: the 1st FashionThursday! 28.10.2021 from 5pm, room GEN 3027

Winter is coming (back) !

If you too are struggling to hold all your clothes for the cold season in only one small wardrobe and have spent last weekend boxing 20kg of summer clothes in your cellar, you are at the right place!

What?
The social committee is organizing a second-hand clothes free-market

Where?
In the meeting room of the 3rd floor

When?
next Thursday Oct. 28, from 5 P.M

Soft drinks will be provided to shoppers to stay hydrated!

*** UNIL Corona safety rules apply***

Organization:
Bring your extra-clothes bags and place them in pile following the size indication set in the room. If you see some beautiful pieces that would look gorgeous on you, then you are welcome to try them on and go back home with them!
All adult sizes are accepted!

Parents who wish to be part of a clothes exchange network can indicate their contact details and children’s size (and gender) for possible future swaps among themselves.

Participants:
Any Genopode member can attend as long as they can provide a covid pass. It is not mandatory to bring piles of clothes to take part to the exchange.

The market will close the following day at 9:30 A.M. All clothes that were not adopted by new humans by then should be taken back or we will bring them to the nearest clothes collection point.

Motivation:
By organizing such event, the social committee wishes to bring the Génopode members’ attention to the fact that buying pre-owned clothes allows us to add items to our wardrobe without using additional resources in the manufacturing process.

The fashion industry is responsible for 8-10% of global carbon emissions, uses massive amounts of water, and exploits workers and animals worldwide. Buying clothes that already exist slows down the fast fashion cycle and the relentless demands on low-paid workers in the supply chain.
