PhD Fellowships in Life Sciences 2011-2012 – starting September 15th 2011

The Faculty of Biology and Medicine offers a broad choice of possibilities in different fields such as biological, biomedical or public health research in the context of the outstanding scientific environment of Lausanne. Talented and motivated candidates who have or will have obtained their Master or any equivalent degree before Fall 2012 are invited to submit their applications before November 11, 2011.

 

ABOUT THE APPLICATION

CONTENTS OF YOUR APPLICATION:

  • 1 passport size photograph
  • Copy of your passport or identity card
  • A complete CV
  • A certified copy of your diploma of secondary education, the university diploma(s) and the diploma supplement (non-certified copies are sufficient for candidates, holder of a Bachelor and a Master degree awarded by a Swiss university).
  • A certified copy of your notes (transcripts) obtained through exams passed at the university, (non-certified copies are sufficiant for candidates holder of a Bachelor and a Master degree awarded by a Swiss university).

  • An official letter from your actual or previous university is required by UNIL’s registration department; without this letter your application will not be considered.

This letter confirms that your master degree allows or will allow you to be formally eligible to pursue a doctoral program within your actual university or  any other university located in the same country or any other university abroad !!

Holders of a Bachelor and a Master degree awarded by a Swiss university do not need this letter.

  • Copies of your certified transcripts, listing courses and your grades of studies at these academic institutions. These transcripts should be translated if not originally in English, French, German or Italian.
  • Three referee letters are required of which two sent thesis directors externally of your lab !

 

Requirements thesis directors and laboratories:

  • At least three laboratories are required,
  • Please browse “laboratories” to find thesis directors and labs,
  • Candidates before sending their application should have received a confirmation from the potential thesis directors informing that they are willing to act as such,
  • The names of the chosen thesis directors should be mentioned in your application form (page 1).
  • Deadline application – November 11th, 2011. Applications and referee forms must be fully completed, signed and sent by AIRMAIL to :

ABOUT OUR FACULTY & PRESENTATION OF THE DOCTORAL SCHOOL

  • The Faculty of Biology and Medicine offers excellent opportunities for research

The Doctoral School of the Faculty of Biology and Medicine, offers various specialized study programs in Life Sciences and Medicine. The Doctoral School manages doctoral studies in basic and clinical sciences.

The Doctoral School has the responsibility for the 3rd cycle training (Doctorate), field for which doctors and biologists collaborate together. Many thesis in Life Sciences and Neurosciences are carried out in medical research laboratories. Research in clinical sciences profits from the expertise and technical platforms developed through basic sciences.

The doctoral studies benefit from domains of excellence and many of it departments offer a large range of doctoral positions.
