Post-Doctoral Fellow – Tau pathology

Description
The VIB Center for the Biology of Disease is a vibrant and international research center where key issues relevant to major human health challenges are tackled. Using the power of Drosophila genetics as well as live imaging, electrophysiology, electron
microscopy and immunohistochemistry, in the laboratory of neuronal communication we study the molecular mechanisms of synaptic transmission in single neurons in order to eventually investigate how neuronal circuits direct complex behaviors and studying mechanisms underlying neuronal communication will help elucidate normal and
pathological brain function with the ultimate hope to use this knowledge for therapeutic purposes.
Using Drosophila genetics and in vivo assays, in combination with biochemical
approaches, you will be responsible for the characterization of pathways that impinge on Tau mediated neuronal dysfunction and degeneration.

Profile
This project is a collaborative effort and you therefore must be a real team-player. In
addition, expert skills in molecular biology, protein chemistry and microscopy are
needed, while proficiency in Drosophila genetics and/or electrophysiological analyses are/is a plus.
How to apply?
If you are interested in studying the mechanisms of neuronal communication, and you are a motivated and interactive individual, please send your CV, a short letter of
motivation and the names of 3 3 referees to Patrik Verstreken at
