Originally created to encourage communication between CHUV researchers, the traditional CHUV RESEARCH DAY has over the years resolutely seen its mission broadened to include the entire Lausanne Biology and Medicine research community.
On the occasion of its 10th edition, the denomination of this annual event will become the FBM RESEARCH DAY, to be held on Thursday, January 27, 2011, at the César-Roux Auditorium, CHUV.
“Cardiovascular & Metabolic Disorders” has been selected as the theme for oral presentations this year. The organization of this day will be similar to that of previous editions with the participation of various outstanding internal and external speakers, combined with a major exhibition of posters and a poster prize ceremony.
Researchers from all disciplines are thus invited to present their work by registering their abstracts by Friday November 19th, 2010 at the latest on the following website: http://www.unil.ch/jrc

Bio Innovation Day (5th edition) taking place November 2nd at CHUV (auditorium César Roux, rue du Bugnon 46, Lausanne). An event that provides academics and entrepreneurs the opportunity to present innovative projects in Life Sciences and enhance relationships between academia, start ups, industry and potential investors.
Prof. Mehdi Tafti will speak on “New diagnostic tools in narcolepsy” (session 1, talk 7).
Using MetaCore for Gene Expression Analysis
Leverage GeneGo’s best‐in‐class molecular interaction database that now includes over 700,000 compounds and their targets, GeneGo provides a solution for using “omics” gene lists to generate and prioritize hypotheses with MetaCore.
This course will highlight how to:
-uncover genetic and functional pathways and networks in gene expression data
-assess connectivity and regulatory hubs with interactomeanalysis
-analyze microRNAfunction
-generate biomarker discovery workflow
-extract functional relevance from gene lists by enrichment histograms
-use workflows to compare data from different experiments

La Fondation Leenaards attribue son prix 2010 à deux projets. Alexandre Reymond fait partie de l’équipe d’un de ces 2 projets:
Un modèle génétique pour l’étude de l’obésité, de l’autisme et de la schizophrénie
cette équipe réunit des spécialistes de génétique médicale, les Dr Sébastien Jacquemont et Danielle Martinet du CHUV, de génétique fondamentale, le Prof. Alexandre Reymond du Centre intégratif de génomique de l’UNIL, et d’imagerie cérébrale, la Prof. Nouchine Hadjikhani de l’EPFL, auxquels se joindra l’expertise clinique du Dr Vittorio Guisti du CHUV, responsable de la prise en charge des patients présentant des troubles du comportement alimentaire. C’est en étudiant les erreurs de « copier / coller » qui surviennent, au cours de la reproduction, sur un court segment du chromosome 16, et en observant les symptômes cliniques présents chez les individus porteurs de telles anomalies génétiques, que les chercheurs de cette équipe développeront un modèle génétique pour l’étude de l’obésité, de l’autisme et de la schizophrénie.

La Commission se propose de financer pour l’année 2010 des projets de recherche interdisciplinaire proposés par les membres du corps enseignant.
Les nouvelles collaborations de nature interdisciplinaire qui ne pourraient être financées par les sources de financement habituelles et qui ne pourraient être conduites par une seule équipe seront considérées en priorité. En l’occurrence, le terme interdisciplinaire doit être entendu dans un sens large et n’implique pas forcément la collaboration de disciplines éloignées. La soumission de projets par de jeunes responsables de recherche est encouragée.
Le montant du subside est d’au maximum CHF 200’000.- pour une période de deux ans non renouvelable. Le subside peut être utilisé pour l’engagement de personnes ou pour du matériel.
Le délai pour la soumission des projets est fixé au 1er avril 2010.
