Hi everyone!
My name is Dora Grbavac, and I am joining Prof. Nadine Vastenhouw’s laboratory for my PhD.
I obtained my BSc and MSc in Molecular Biology at the University of Zagreb, Croatia. For my Master thesis project, I studied the regulation of promoter-proximal RNA Pol II pausing in the ageing mouse liver in Dr. Peter Tessarz’s lab at the Max Planck Institute for Biology of Ageing in Cologne. There, I developed an interest in the regulation of the initial stages of transcription. I am happy to have the opportunity to continue studying the same process for my PhD.
This time, during the exciting period of zygotic genome activation! Besides transcription, I am also excited about science outreach targeted at high school students.
I look forward to meeting you all at the CIG!
