My name is Héléna Malek I am 21 years old and I am a first year master student at the University of Paris. 

After obtaining my baccalaureate in 2018, I entered the Life Science degree program at the University of Paris and specialized in Biochemistry, Integrative Biology and Physiology during my third and last year of Bachelor.  

Having discovered a passion for developmental biology and genetics during my undergraduate degree, I decided to develop further my knowledge of molecular genetics, by undertaking the Magistère Européen de Génétique at the University of Paris. 

I am currently in my first year of Master’s degree and I have the pleasure to perform a five month internship at the Gambetta laboratory in Center for Integrative Genomics of the University of Lausanne from March to August 2022.  During my internship, I will work together with a PhD student and postdoc to study the relevance of chromosomal loops for neuronal gene regulation in the fruit fly.
