Hi, my name is Derek Scott. I did my bachelor’s degree in biology at the University of Neuchâtel in Switzerland.

Then I worked as a Laboratory assistant for the company Varo Energy SA that holds the only oil refinery in Switzerland. I was in the quality control department and mainly worked on the crude oil stabilisation method and its implementation in the lab.

I also worked at Medistri SA as a laboratory technician in the microbiology lab. I mostly worked on endotoxins, sterility and bioburden tests of commercial and prototype medical devices. Additionally, I worked on cleaning method validations based on protein content.

I have now decided to do a MLS Master’s degree and just started a first-step project, working closely with Sebastien Chamois in the Gatfield lab.
