Welcome to Elissa

My Name is Elissa Feghaly. I am Lebanese and hold a Master’s degree in Microbiology from Aix-Marseille University, France.

After finishing my masters, I had the opportunity to move to Fribourg and work as a research assistant in the Biochemistry department, where I contributed actively to the study of the biogenesis of lipid droplets in Saccharomyces cerevisiae also known as baker’s yeast.
In January 2021, I had the chance to work in the plant biology department at the university of Fribourg. My research in this lab was focusing on the identification of a new microbial bank in potatoes after infection of Phytophthora infestans, a microorganism that causes a serious potato and tomato disease known as late blight.

My hobbies include Running, Drawing mandalas, Reading mystery and detective novels and travelling. I am very happy to start working as a lab technician in Gambetta’s group for the next 6 months.
