Welcome to Ishrak !

Hello everybody!

My name is Ishrak Ramzan and I am excited to have just started working in Dr. Lopez-Mejia’s lab as a visiting undergraduate researcher through the UNIL’s Summer Undergraduate Research (SUR) programme.
I come from the United States, where I am currently pursuing my bachelor’s in Biology and Linguistics at the University of California, San Diego.

Previously I worked for a year in Dr. Christopher Benedict’s group at the La Jolla Institute for Immunology examining cytomegalovirus’ ability to avoid immune detection.
Currently I am in Dr. Gene Yeo’s lab at UC San Diego, where I am exploring methods in spatial transcriptomics and proteomics. I’m excited to learn more about the role of alternative splicing and RNA-binding proteins in adipocyte metabolism during conditions of insulin resistance and obesity.

I’m looking forward to meeting you all at the CIG!
