Welcome to Stéphanie!

My name is Stéphanie Afonso and I am very lucky to have this opportunity to join the CIG for a 6-month internship as part of my second year of Master’s degree.

I come from France where I did a Degree in biology of organisms. Since then, my interest has focused on plant biology and the evolution of organisms. That is why I decided to continue my studies on a Master’s degree in Plant Biology with a specialisation in plant-microorganism-environment interactions in Dijon (France).

In January 2021, I was able to contribute to a study within the FILEAS team at INRAe (Dijon, France). I worked on plant cell wall development impacted by membrane trafficking, mainly using flow cytometry and fluorescence microscopy.

And today it a stroke of luck for me to be able to join Sebastian Soyk’s group to work on genetic interactions that influence the development of tomato inflorescences.

I look forward to seeing you in the corridors and talk to you!
