Prof. Paul Franken at the Center for Integrative Gnomics at the University of Lausanne is seeking a post-doctoral fellow with a methematial modelling expertise and strong Neuroscience background to further an ongoing project on sleep-wake regulation.

Expected start date in position : 01/02/2021 / to be agreed
Contract length : 1 year, renewable depending of funding availability.
Activity rate : 100 % (minimum of 50% for research project, maximum of 50 % for institutional tasks).
Workplace : University of Lausanne, campus Dorigny, Lausanne

Your responsibilities

We are looking for an outstanding Post-doctoral fellow with experience in analyzing multi-type phenotypic and molecular data, including EEG signals, sleep-wake behavior and physiology. The candidate will also be involved in other ongoing projects of the group and help supervise PhD students. You will also assist with teaching at the CIG.

Your qualifications

In order ro complete our team, we are looking or someone with the following skills:

  • PhD in neuroscience, mathematics, or physics or another field plus demonstrated competence in applying mathematical models to biological questions.
  • A strong neuroscience back-ground, in particular sleep-wake regulation, will be a plus as will being experienced in Matlab.
  • Great sense of teamwork is essential.

It is embedded in the broader Lausanne research environment that includes two universities (UNIL, EPFL), the SwissInstitute of Bioinformatics, Ludwig Center for Cancer Research, Universit Hospital, and a cluster of biotech companies flourishing in the larger Lake Geneva area. The CIG shares the building with the Department of Computational Biology.
