Henrik Kaessmann from the University of Lausanne, Switzerland, has been selected to receive the Starting Grant from the European Research Council (ERC) in its 2009 call for proposals. The ERC Starting Grants support early-career top research leaders who are about to establish or consolidate an independent research career in Europe. The grants are available to researchers in all fi elds of science, engineering, and scholarship.

A new postdoc in H.Kaessmann’s group

Julien Meunier obtained his PhD in 2005 in the group of Prof. L. Duret at the University of Lyon, CNRS, France, on “substitution rate variability in the human genome”. In 2009, he joined the group of Prof. J. Marvel at INSERM in Lyon as a post-doc, where he worked on T-cell expression profiling using various infectious models to discover new markers of the immune response. He joined Prof. Kaessmann’s group on the 1st of January 2010.
