CIG Progress Reports 2025-2026

Dear all,

Please join us for the CIG Progress Reports 2025/2026 seminar series in which we’ll get to hear some stories developing in the department.

All are welcome!

Place: auditorium GEN A in Spring 2026 (12h30-13h30). We will inform you of the room in every reminder email sent before the seminar.

Each speaker presents their work in 20-25 min + 5-10 questions.
For more dynamic discussions, we usually interrupt speakers with questions during the talk. The aim is to share your work with your colleagues and receive scientific feedback.

Please keep in mind that the CIG is very diverse and many of your colleagues are not familiar with details of your field and specific methodologies. Thus, we advise you to balance the amount of presented data against the time you have to present.

Optional feedback on presentation skills using a questionnaire By popular demand, but only if desired, presenters can receive tips from a couple of PIs to improve presenter skills. For this, we prepared a feedback questionnaire to be filled out together over a brief discussion at the end of the seminar.

Schedule (Thursday at 12:30)

Unil Sleep Research Day on April 4th, 2025

The Unil and CHUV sleep labs invite you to the Unil Sleep Research Day on April 4th, 2025 | 09:00 – 17:00.

This symposium provides an exciting opportunity to explore recent advancements in Sleep Research.

Guest speakers include Prof. Sophie Schwartz and Prof. Paul Franken.

As a special lecture this year, Dr. Karine Crousaz will present her research on the history of sleep in the Early Modern Period (1500–1800).

Additionally, neuroscientists and clinicians from the Sleep labs in the Lausanne area will present their most recent work.

Seminars and talks are on-site at the CHUV.

Registration to the full day symposium is free but mandatory as the number of participants is limited.

Thu Feb 6 – Fri Feb 7, 2025 – Lausanne (Gen)Omics Days 2025

Dear all,

The Lausanne Genomics Days is a 2-day international conference meant to share advances in (Gen)Omics and their impact on biological research, applied to a wide range of topics (it does involve 5 UNIL departments CIG, DBC, DBMV, DEE, and DMF).

It will take place at UNIL / Genopode on Thursday and Friday February 6th and 7th 2025.

The conference offers 5 sessions:

  • Breakthrough technologies in Biology and Medicine (chair: Prof. Sven Bergmann)
  • Single cell genomics in evolution and development (chair: Prof. Sebastian Soyk)
  • Biological interactions across scales (chair: Prof. Philipp Engel)
  • The role of structural variation for adaptation and species divergence (chair: Prof. Tanja Schwander)
  • Epigenomics & 3D genome folding in organoids and organisms (chair: Prof. Maria Cristina Gambetta).

For detailed program and more information, please visit the event webpage

Registration is FREE of charge. Still, it is mandatory for organization purpose, in particular ensuring that there will not be food wasted (coffee breaks, lunch and apero are offered).

HERE is the direct link for registration.

Best regards
