In March 2010, on behalf of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs  (Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation), Walter Wahli was appointed as a Scientific Advisor of the Swiss expert group for Research Projects and Programmes under the Swiss Contribution Cooperation Programme in Hungary and Poland.
